Right View Timber Sale
Unit 5 Cut in just 1.5 Days
March 14 and 15 the loggers cut most of the sale trees in unit 5. Our tax dollars had to pay for a dozen law enforcement officers to protect the 5 work crews from the peaceful and gentle teen-ager sitting in the tree.
Trees were cut to within 50 feet of the tree-sitter. Most of the buffer is less than 100 feet. Most of the trees felled are close to 150 or even 200 feet tall. One tree that was cut hit a tree the sitter was tied into, and made his tree shudder. With the "buffer" now isolated from its forest, some of the trees will likely blow over. The tree-sitters, though in increased danger, are not leaving until BLM can promise in writing not to cut any more trees in unit 5. BLM doesn't want to promise this because a new road is supposed to be built where the tree-sit buffer is. Below are some photos of unit 5 cut.
Note: This page is solid pictures. It will take a minute or two to load. Please be patient.

Before and After
Above: Two large trees had grown and lived
together. The loggers took just one tree and left
her soul sister to mourn in pain.
